The Artas robot is developed by restoration robotics. It is a computer assisted system which uses a robot that is visually guided to improve the extraction of hair follicles. It can potentially make manual FUE hair transplantation easier. The system works in conjection with a physician. While the robot does deal with the extract of hair follicles, the implantation must still be done manually by a trained phsycian.
Official spokespeople from Artas say that the robot is a less invasive and quicker procedure than doing it manually, having a hair extraction rate of between 750 to 1000 units per hour. It should be noted however that the system only works with hair which is either black or brown, as otherwise the imaging technology has trouble identifying the hairs.
